This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on houseofdexter.com and in the Dexter web app at app.houseofdexter.com. Our Privacy policy explains how we handle personal data in general.
In short
- We use only what's needed to run the site, plus Google Analytics to understand how the site is used.
- We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
- In the UK, the EEA and Switzerland, analytics only loads if you allow it. Everywhere else you can switch it off at any time.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies include local storage, which keeps information in your browser without sending it with every request. We call all of these "cookies" here.
2. Cookies we use on houseofdexter.com
Strictly necessary (always on)
- hod_consent (local storage, kept until you clear it): remembers your analytics choice so we don't ask again.
- Short-lived information about how you reached the site (campaign details in the link and the referring website). It stays in your browser tab only until you send a form, and is deleted when you close the tab.
Analytics (can be switched off)
- _ga and _ga_ followed by our property ID (Google Analytics, up to 2 years in your browser): tell visits apart so we can count pages viewed and see which campaigns bring people to the site. Google keeps the data for no longer than 14 months.
Optional chat assistant
- The Maya chat assistant uses no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. The conversation is kept only in the open page's memory and is gone when you close the tab or start a new chat.
3. The Dexter web app (app.houseofdexter.com)
The web app uses only strictly necessary storage: your sign-in session, your app settings (such as light or dark mode), and the Private Moments photos you choose to keep on your device. It doesn't use advertising or analytics cookies.
4. Your choices
- UK, EEA and Switzerland: the banner asks you first. Analytics only loads if you choose "Allow analytics".
- Everywhere else: analytics loads when the page opens. Choose "Cookie settings" at the bottom of any page to switch it off.
- Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends this signal, we treat it as "No thanks" wherever you are.
- You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary storage may stop parts of the site from working.
When you switch analytics off, we stop it and delete its cookies on our site.
5. Changes and contact
We'll update this page when the cookies we use change. Questions: support@houseofdexter.com.
